BreedingValue researchers identify genetic markers that could help breeders improve both strawberry quality and shelf life
A study recently published by researchers of the BreedingValue project identifies key genetic markers and candidate genes for breeding better strawberries.
In summary, the study explores the genetic and phenotypic diversity of cultivated strawberry over the last 160 years and identifies genetic markers which can be used for the selection of improved strawberry varieties with high fruit quality.
The paper "Exploration of a European-centered strawberry diversity panel provides markers and candidate genes for the control of fruit quality traits" was published in the journal ‘Horticulture Research’ by researchers of the BreedingValue partner institutions INRAe and INVENIO.
